Over the weekend, (10.03.12) one of my very good friends Jakob Anderson (aged 17) passed away. He died while attempting to hang off the back of a train in Sydney, Australia.
Nobody would ever be able to explain Jakob to a person that hadn’t met him. He was special, unique… extraordinary. He could so easily brighten somebodies day by simply having a conversation with them. He would always find the strangest way to compliment people, but that just made it so much more flattering. Once he told me that if he were to eat me, I’d taste delicious, I couldn’t stop smiling.
He had an outlook on the world that was most unusual, you would never meet a person quite like him, or that thought like him. A lot of the time he hated the world, not like normal teenage angst but really saw the world for what it was, but also had the ability to make it his own, to make the world a little less horrible.
One of the first times I ever spoke to Jakob we planned a massacre, we decided we hated the world so why not kill everyone in it then just do away with ourselves. Now I’m certainly glad that didn’t go ahead because I never would have gotten to know him the way I did, he never would have made me think the way he did or given me the type of happiness that he shared with every person that he met.
His main goal in life was happiness, he always told me, what good is anything if you’re not happy. So that’s all he did, anything just so he could be happy, and it worked, always.
Jakob was an amazing, funny, bright, incredible person and one of the best friends I could ever have. He was strong and wasn’t afraid of anything. He was taken from this world much too young and it is a tragedy, but for all the people who knew Jakob, be happy for him because it would be a dishonour to his memory if we didn’t hold him in our hearts with our happy memories. I know Jakob is watching over me and all the other people that love him and will continue to love him till they die. And I will pray for him everyday that he is in a good place, and he can finally be trouble free from this awful world and find peace.
We love you Muffles, Rest In Peace. <3
